Thesis Grunge, coming to a cinema near you!

by Mitch Cooper on January 24, 2009

So we’ve told you how excited we are about Thesis, how easy it is to customize and just how far you can take things, but we’re keen to share some of what we’ve picked up developing with Thesis by releasing a theme or two for public consumption.

Thesis Grunge will be our first release and it’ll hopefully drop not too long after 1.4. Thesis Grunge is at the core of the current DIYninjas design, but we think we’ll mix things up when we go public.

Check it out:

Would it have a custom function to change the background image ?

*would be nice*

That theme looks great! Can’t wait to see it when it goes live.

Ehab: What sort of different backgrounds were you interested in – different colours or different styles?

Shuki Haiminis: Definitely hoping to get this out the door soon. One of the challenges I’ve had, alongside going away climbing :) , is making a graphically rich theme play nicely with the hundreds of different variations of Thesis sites available. It’s making things increasingly, and less desireably, more complex.

My preference, as we’ve done here at DIYninjas, is to have a static background image that is drawn up specifically to match the Thesis setup we’re running.

What are people’s thoughts on releasing an intitial theme that was tied to a limited numer of Thesis layouts and perhaps relied on some slight alterations to the custom.css to pick up different background images for different layouts?

SE7EN: Definitely keen to get this one out the door!

We’ve got something a little different that we’re hoping to get out the door this afternoon though. We’ll keep you posted! :)

I love the Thesis Grunge theme idea and it would be perfect for the blog I want to start on Ecuador…. any idea when it will be released? Or is a beta available now? Many thanks! – Dennis
